Overtime Rules

Non-exempt employees who work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week must be paid at one and one-half times their regular rate of pay. Any work exceeding 12 hours in a day must be compensated at twice the regular rate.

Provisions regarding overtime can be found at Cal. Lab. Code § 510(a)

*Employers covered by federal law, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), must comply with wage regulations including minimum wage and overtime pay requirements.
