Overtime Rules

Non-exempt employees who work more than 40 hours in a week must be paid at one and one-half times their regular rate of pay. Compensation for working overtime can be provided in two ways: either by paying the employee one and a half times their regular rate of pay or by compensatory time off, with one and a half hours off for each hour worked beyond the standard forty-hour workweek.

Provisions regarding overtime can be found at Mich. Comp. Laws § 408.934

*Employers covered by federal law, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), must comply with wage regulations including minimum wage and overtime pay requirements.
