The Change In Kickstart Rules: What Does It Mean For Your Business?

With the latest news of the threshold now at 30 jobs per company for the Kickstart Scheme has been removed, this makes it even easier for small businesses to apply for the Kickstart Scheme.

Harri had already made the application easy both for >30 and <30 Kickstart roles, however the time it was taking for approvals was up to 12 weeks. Now, with the threshold being removed, to apply and be approved for the scheme will take far less time.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak told the BBC that coronavirus restrictions were making it difficult for young people to start their roles, despite the £2bn scheme for 16-24 year olds to find new roles and build careers.

“Obviously because of the lockdowns and restrictions, that hampers businesses’ ability to bring people into work. What we can look forward to, as the restrictions ease, is more of these young people starting those placements.”

Following the recent DWP announcement that businesses can directly apply for Kickstart funding with less than 30 roles, many businesses may be asking, why should we look to HospitalityUnite and Springboard to apply for Kickstart?

The answer is simple.

Springboard’s expertise and Harri’s technology make a seamless recruitment process and provide support from posting your job to hiring, training and retaining your Kickstart employees.

We have come up with 5 reasons why businesses should apply through HospitalityUnite, in collaboration with Springboard, for Kickstart:

    • Harri (HospitalityUnite) are working in collaboration with Springboard, who have years of experience and knowledge about getting young people into hospitality, leisure and tourism roles.
    • By applying through HospitalityUnite, we will create a Harri ATS free of charge for you to screen, interview and hire your new Kickstart recruits easily and efficiently. By using your Harri ATS you will be joining the likes of The Ivy Collection, Radisson Europe, KFC and Burger King to hire the best talent for your business.
    • Springboard are offering their world-beating employability training package to all young people. This training package is being offered at no extra cost to employers and can set up young Kickstart recruits for a career in hospitality, leisure and tourism.
      • The Springboard employability training package will be taken out of the £1500 funding given to each employer at the point of hiring a Kickstart recruit.
    • Springboard and Harri are working together to ensure you have the best chances of being approved. We have already had over 230 roles approved in a variety of sectors within hospitality, leisure and tourism, spanning the UK.
    • Let us do the heavy lifting – Harri will support you through the whole application process making it seamless.

So far the Kickstart scheme has created more than 120,000 job placements overall for young people across the country.

In the Government press release, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Thérèse Coffey said “…now is the time to prepare for post-lockdown placements and employers will now have a choice to apply direct or through one of our 600 fantastic Kickstart gateways who may be locally connected or sector-specific providing that tailored support.”

Harri & Springboard are committed to supporting many more businesses to take advantage of this brilliant opportunity to create more jobs and provide young people with a stepping stone to starting a career in hospitality, leisure and tourism, and in doing so, setting your business up for success.
