Restaurant Bytes: Sheri Miksa

Restaurant Bytes Sheri Miksa hospitality industry mentorships

Welcome back to Restaurant Bytes! This is a short, virtual program that asks restaurant executives questions about the issues they are facing today. Restaurant Bytes is hosted by Tom Spry (Principal of Tom Spry Executive Search) and Harri’s own Jacqueline Farmer (Enterprise Sales Executive). This segment caught up with Sheri Miksa, Board Member for the GLEAM Network, to discuss the importance of mentorship and career growth opportunities in the hospitality industry.

The GLEAM Global Leadership and Enhancement Mentor) Network is a nonprofit organization created for the foodservice and restaurant industry. GLEAM Network aims to provide career growth opportunities to people at all levels at no cost. They offer leadership development and mentoring to the underserved and underrepresented in the industry, and make it available for those who desire to develop those skills. GLEAM Network only began in April 2020, but already is led and supported by many hospitality professionals and leadership.

Sheri stresses the importance of connections in this industry and how influential they can be in someone’s career opportunities and advancement. As someone who had great mentors earlier in her career, Sheri is especially passionate about her work with GLEAM, “those kinds of relationships and connections are just invaluable”. Being part of GLEAM grants you benefits you may not have if you don’t have relationships and connections.
