Advocating for Change and Giving Society a Voice

social responsibility in hospitality

We are in the midst of a pivotal time in Global history. As countries around the world continue its fight for justice and equality for all citizens, organisations have a responsibility to speak up about social injustices to their guest and employee populations. Although the standard practice is to tread lightly around issues of politics and social justice in the workplace, leaders are finding that silence is not the answer.  A clear stance around social responsibility to support organisational and cultural principles is what is required. Leaders are navigating their response to George Floyd’s death and the recent events, and it means delving into challenging conversations. These conversations can be difficult to engage with, but are crucial to personal and social reform.

As a family and team, we at Harri stand firmly against any form of discrimination, inequality or violence. It is up to each one of us – as a business and a community – to treat each other with dignity and respect. We continue to be committed to maintaining a work environment where all feel safe, included and, valued for our differences and the contributions that each of us makes to our business. Our core beliefs are at the heart of who we are as a company.

As part of this commitment we are encouraging an ongoing and open dialogue to be fostered about fairness, equality of access and opportunity, diversity and inclusion. Our CEO believes that every leader and team member is part of making sure our organisational culture is inclusive and ensures fairness, above all else.

Creating and sustaining a fair, diverse and inclusive culture is something that we must address every day and with every action so we can continually build an environment where each member of our team can be their best and true selves – and where we all feel valued for the contributions we make to our company, our customers and our communities.
