Harri | CAPSERV360: How to Use Technology to Attract Employees

technology to recruit in hospitality

Dan Murdoch, VP of Marketing at Harri, caught up with Charles Musgrove, Founder of CAPSERV360, to discuss technology’s role in attracting and retaining employees during hospitality’s race for talent.

Between minimum wage increases, predictive scheduling labor laws like Fair Workweek, COVID-19 recovery, reopening pains, and now an industry-wide labor shortage, hospitality businesses are facing operational challenges like never before. Most brands are managing each of these individual challenges using fragmented point solutions, or worse, pen-and-paper methods.

The result is extremely unscalable internal processes and a disjointed employee experience that lends itself to high turnover.

Dan and Charles discuss how the future of hospitality demands operators to utilize a unified tech platform to connect the dots between HCM processes and create an employee experience that drives success from the bottom up by encouraging growth and retention.

“It’s a result of hospitality having a branding issue at this moment in time as a stable industry where someone can build a career within. There’s still considerations around health and safety. We also found that 30% of hospitality workers are unwilling to get vaccinated at this time. If that’s a consideration or requirement for employment, that’s a problem. Moreover, the displacement of labor into surging industries like essential retail, convenience, Amazon warehousing, the gig economy — those have permanently displaced many workers that were once employed by the hospitality industry. All of that has compounded itself into a massive labor shortage”
